{"id":2381,"date":"2013-03-14T10:00:57","date_gmt":"2013-03-14T14:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/funnyfeminist.com\/?p=2381"},"modified":"2013-05-29T01:06:06","modified_gmt":"2013-05-29T01:06:06","slug":"formative-performances-judy-reyes-in-scrubs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theresabasile.com\/wp\/2013\/03\/14\/formative-performances-judy-reyes-in-scrubs\/","title":{"rendered":"Formative Performances: Judy Reyes in &#8220;Scrubs&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Women&#8217;s History Month, Day 14]<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s highlighted actress had the sometimes thankless job of being the moral center and &#8220;straight man&#8221; on a sitcom: Judy Reyes on <em>Scrubs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Scrubs<\/em> is a show dear to my heart for its combination of silliness and genuine emotional moments, but the balance would never have worked without Judy Reyes as Carla. She often provided the heart on the show without ever delving into saccharine sentimentality. (She also had great chemistry with Donald Faison, making Turk and Carla one of my all-time favorite fictional couples.) John C. McGinley once said that Reyes was the best actor on their show, and I think he&#8217;s right.<\/p>\n<p>The following clip is a great<em> <\/em>dramatic moment from <em>Scrubs,<\/em> where Carla defends herself against JD&#8217;s patronizing attitude. It&#8217;s so emotional and angry and dignified, and she pulls out all the stops.
